Holding on becomes a balancing act
Not quite mimicking the juggler’s art
Where precision times the arc of letting go
Not to catch or fall risks ridicule
Within the public gaze
Who notices in me now the inner circus
When circuits within the body
Begin to mistime the release of energy.
Walking with balance and grace
Cannot be taken for granted any more.
Parkinson’s faced – the on off dopamine release
That interrupts the free flow of movement.
Self-conscious and wary may come to stay
If conscious and careful does not come my way.
